Vanessa Marcil Biography
Vanessa was born to Peter and Patricia Marcil Ortiz as Sally Vanessa Ortiz on October 15, 1968. Her father worked as a contractor, a man that also made himself very, very wealthy ove the course of his lifetime. Her mother was a herbalist. She grew up in Palm Desert, California with her two older sisters, and her parents, who eventually split up.
Marcil first started acting at the ripe young age of 8. She began pursuing her future career choice by acting in plays early on in life, including a 6th grade talent show performance of a song that she wrote herself. Needless to say, she won the whole thing.
In 1991 she married Corey Feldman. They’ve since divorced.
Her first big break was landing the part of Brenda Barrett on “General Hospital” in 1992. She then went on to starring in her first major film named “The Rock” along side Nicholas Cage, Ed Harris and Sean Connery in 1996. She left the cast of “General Hospital” after 6 years, and teamed up with the people at “Beverly Hills 90210″ in 1998, performing as Gina Kincaid, a firecracker type of girl on the show.
Eventually, she would make her way back to “General Hosptial”, and everyone fell in love with her. In 2003, she claimed an award for her efforts, the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress. The award increased awareness of Vanessa Marcil, and she scored a role in “Las Vegas” as Sam Marquez, a host at a casino.
